One of the best known and prominent queens of Ancient Egypt, Queen Nefertiti was of African descent and wife to King Akhenaten during the 18th Dynasty era. Queen Nefertiti’s face appears on more art-work and sculptures than even the King. Queen Nefertiti has been long renowned as one of the most beautiful women of the ancient civilization and is also notorious for fostering a one-god religion, worshipping the sun god Ra or Re.

In hieroglyphic text, a cartouche was used to eternalize the pharaoh's name and came to be used as an amulet. The oval ring that surrounds the name was meant to protect the pharaoh in the afterlife.
